Jhenese “JLaToiya” Hester, has been described as creative, multifaceted, transcending and gifted. She was born in Orlando, Florida, but now resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

As a musician, her musical versatility has been consistent since childhood. When JLaToiya was 5 years old, her great- grandmother spoke over her life and anointed her hands. At age 10, one Sunday night, she saw a drummer was needed for service, she got out of her seat and walked across the floor, sat down at the drums and began playing. Her Aunt Mildred, who was the leader of the music ministry at the church, was very instrumental in honing her musical talent. 

 

With JLaToiya's quest to be the best made her practice relentlessly and surround herself with all forms of music. She later moved to Nashville to venture into the music industry.  These efforts proved successful when she was asked to join, gospel group RiZen on their national USA and European tours.

 

Looking to take her career to the next level, JLaToiya stepped onto the R&B genre touring all over the U.S., Europe, Japan and Asia with Musiq Soulchild.  

 

Coupled with a vision to be “More than a drummer”, her destiny fulfillment includes being an entrepreneur of several companies—Drummer Girl Productions Inc, Studio 806 and MarJhon Creative Group. 

 

When JLaToiya is not on a stage, you can find her one of many places, in a studio producing and recording music, renovating houses or traveling the country enjoying life. Her career motivation is simple, “live your life with no regrets.”
